By providing a personalized learning environment and evidence-based instruction, we can engage teens to achieve levels of higher success. We want them to master helping themselves, so they can develop the art of helping others.

Honoring

No one succeeds alone. We encourage our students to recognize this fact and to be grateful to everyone who has helped provide them with the opportunity to succeed, including their parents and school staff. We encourage our students to pay it forward by helping others, and to ask themselves, who can I help today? We believe that in this way we will build better communities and a more caring society.

Understanding

We ensure our students realize their maximum potential by creating a learning environment where they can thrive. As the staff learns about their interests, students are encouraged to pursue their personal passions. We help students see how success is possible through a better understanding of their uniqueness. By believing in their ability to grow, we accommodate their needs, deliver countless accommodations, and most importantly, we never give up on them.

Mindfulness

We want to teach our students to look at the world through the lens of another. We want them to practice thinking how they relate to the world and not how the world relates to them. We teach students to be mindful of the people around them every day. Can I open a door for some one? Am I being too loud? Is someone trying to study? All these are questions encourage students to ask themselves how they impact others, not how others impact them. They mature emotionally and socially. By encouraging them to be more caring, it also helps them be more considerate at home and in life.

Respect

It is important to us for students to learn to respect that the world is full of unique individuals who think differently from each other, and to understand that this diversity makes the world a better place. We educate our students to relate to those who are different from them. By doing so, we teach acceptance, compassion, and tolerance, thus reducing bullying and mean spiritedness. Students learn that they do not need to compromise their beliefs, but to accept that other people have different beliefs, and to be kind and courteous to all people, regardless of those differences. It is also important that students learn to behave respectfully to everyone, including those in authority, to prepare them to be successful in the workplace.

Support

Supporting our students with compassion is very important to us, but it is just as important to teach them to be accountable and not to make excuses for wrong actions. As students progress through the grades they gain momentum, so that a senior looks nothing like they did as a freshman. We lovingly push our students, always providing support, but not allowing them to use accommodations as a crutch which would limit their ability. This enables them to be the best human they can be. The result is that our students often achieve far more than even their parents thought possible, and the world is a better place.
